Summary of program and its objectives:
The Research and Policy Centre at the Brotherhood of St Laurence is uniquely positioned. We work closely with the Brotherhood’s service development and delivery on the ground, and connect this work with broader social policy advocacy. As one of the largest research centres outside of academia, we seed new approaches to social policy, programs and practice that help shape a better future for individuals, families and communities experiencing poverty, inequality and social exclusion.
The Foyer Foundation and BSL share common goals and have entered into a partnership with one another to leverage the relevant expertise of both organisations and enhance the complementary roles each organisation plays in the Australian Youth Foyer movement.
Foyers are integrated learning and accommodation settings for young people, typically aged 16 – 24 years, who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness. Foyers provide a point in time service that enables young people to develop and achieve educational and employment pathways.
Main responsibilities of the role:
The Youth Research Team at the Brotherhood of St Laurence Research and Policy Centre is seeking a Senior Research Officer to build on our research and policy work on Youth Foyers to support the development of an impact measurement, monitoring and evaluation framework across Youth Foyers nationally. In partnership with the Foyer Foundation, the role will collaborate with foyers in a diversity of contexts to devise a framework to support ongoing adaptive learning and development.
In partnership with the Foyer Foundation, the Senior Research Officer will build on BSL’s research and policy work on Youth Foyers to support the development of an impact measurement, monitoring and evaluation framework across Youth Foyers nationally.
This role will require travel to youth foyer sites across Australia.
